Today, black scholarships and grants for college can be sought through various government as well as private programs. Most of the programs are focused towards educational purposes. Foundation and Organization Grants

United Negro College Fund Scholarships (UNCF)

Besides this, students are required to complete a UNCF General Scholarship application before applying for the UNCF scholarship.

The National Black Nurses Associations (NBNA)

Black scholarships and grants for college can also be procured through NBNA. This scholarship program is designed exclusively for black women who are looking to make a career in nursing. Numerous scholarships are distributed to black women every year through this program.

The HP Scholars Program

The HP Scholars Program is regulated by Hewlett Packard Company. Scholarships are awarded to minority students through this program. To qualify, candidates are required to be pursuing further studies in the following educational streams, computer science, electrical engineering and computer engineering. Students can take the liberty of submitting their application online.

Jackie Robinson Foundation

Minority and black students are awarded scholarship worth $7500 through Jackie Robinson Foundation. It’s a need based scholarship, which is offered to aspiring students who can’t afford to bear the college expenses on their own. Mentorship programs are also run by this foundation to create more black leaders in the country. Interested candidates should apply for a four-year BA course from an accredited university. The scholarship amount can be used to bear the tuition fees, cost of books and other expenses that go with college studies.
